Periodontal Therapy
Implant Therapy
Dental implants are designed to replace missing teeth using a Titanium screw that acts as an artificial root. On top of this, replacement teeth can be built to restore appearance and function. They can provide replacement for single or multiple teeth, and generally will provide replacements that remain fixed in the mouth. Whether you have been missing teeth for a short or long time, dental implant therapy might be an option to consider if you wish to replace teeth. Dr. Doody & Dr. Dace will be able to assess your mouth to tell you whether this is possible, and how to go about replacement of missing teeth with dental implants. For more information about dental implants or to schedule a consultation appointment, call us on 01-202 8900.
Soft Tissue Grafting
Bone Grafting
Bone grafting can often be used to build up missing bone before or during dental implant therapy. It is generally not necessary to take bone from another place, as a safe, reliable, substitute bone graft material can be used.
Bone that has been lost through destructive periodontal (gum) disease can sometimes be replaced by bone grafting. Dr. Doody or Dr. Dace will be able to tell you more when they assess you.
Crown Lengthening Surgery
If you are unhappy with the appearance of short unsightly teeth this can be greatly improved by a combination of periodontal procedures and cosmetic dentistry by your dentist. This procedure may even be used to give better symmetry for your gums to help give a nice pleasing appearance if your smile isn’t quite symmetrical.
Occasionally, crown lengthening surgery can be used to help your dentist prepare a tooth for a filling or a crown that needs to be placed under the existing gumline.
Pre-orthodontic Screening and Assessment
Orthodontists or Dentists who are planning to initiate orthodontic therapy may request that you attend a periodontist for assessment before you start your orthodontic therapy. This is more often the case if the patient is an adult. This assessment is usually carried out to assess and correct any gum problems before orthodontic therapy, to give the best possible long term result.
